Greetings from the Ministerial Department!
"Then I will give you pastors after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding."

  • Empowering Faith
  • Enhancing Ministerial Community
  • Encouraging Personal & Professional Growth
  • Equipping Evangelistically & Exciting Passion for witnessing
... is what we are about at the NAD Ministerial Department. Supporting you in pastoral ministry is our number one focus, because Spirit-filled, effective, healthy pastors and congregations have an enormous impact for the Kingdom of God.
To put it plainly, our leadership will not function with a top down management approach, because we don’t believe we can fully support you unless we listen to you and dialogue with you. Our dialogue and listening will take place in many ways. We plan to connect face to face, through interviews, through the use of technology, through the committees of the NAD Ministerial Directors, the NAD Pastor Advisory, phone surveys, and through Union and Conference Administrator events. We will begin this journey in Ontario, California at the Pacific Union Ministerial Council August 29-31. We will be dressed in T-shirts that simply say, “Wanted: your best idea for ministry.” We want to record and listen to you, so we can share and distribute to other pastors in our division, so get ready to share.

You are super-essential in order for us to REACH North America and for a Spiritual Revival to permeate our land. Reaching North America through the proclamation of the good news to the church and the world, presenting Jesus as Savior and Lord to all people regardless of race, gender, nationality, or economic status is the essence of our work. Proclaiming the good news in the context of the Three Angels’ messages (Rev. 14:6-12) also includes congregational retention, so that Adventist churches may be centers of loving concern, dynamic evangelism, and reflections of the presence of the living Lord. It is our prayer that by His Grace and Power this will become a reality.

A Note to Ministerial Directors
I want to make you aware of something that is happening in your conference.

At my request to the NAD Office of Assessment & Strategic Planning that Paul
Brantley leads, 120 in-depth interviews are being conducted with pastors across the Division. We are going to learn a lot from what is discovered and shared. Dr Brantley has contracted with the Center for Creative Ministry to conduct these interviews.

The Center is a well respected long-time provider of research services to NAD through the years. Their current interviewer is Curtis Rittenour. Mostly, He has the best way to reach the chosen pastor(s) in your area, but at times Curtis may contact your office if he needs additional information. Thank you for assisting him in advance.

We will be making the Executive Summary available to you when the project is done, so we can learn together how to best support our pastors.

What are pastors saying?
Follow Dwight Seek’s blog (pastor of the Joplin Seventh-day Adventist Church in Joplin, MO. He says, “I have never been in the midst of a disaster like this before but the emotional twister that followed the F5 tornado was mind numbing. So I thought it might be helpful for pastors and anyone else who finds themselves in like circumstances, to journal my thoughts, feelings and experiences.” Click Here
