NAD Ministerial Department - Say So

Greetings from the Ministerial Department!

Building Community - Jeremiah 3:15

Whether in church, in the office where you work, or just living next door in the neighborhood, building community is no small feat in any situation.  My prayer is for us to truly become more of a community of ministers as we serve the Master in the North American Division. Community can only be experienced through much prayer, collaboration, communication, intentionality, and Holy Spirit saturation. Here are some recent and upcoming ways in which the ministerial family is striving to build community.

Southwestern Union Ministerial Convention

Over 700 pastors gathered in Ft. Worth, Texas, January 9-12, 2012 for a enriched experience under the theme "Revive Us Again."  The gathering was filled with opportunities to reconnect with other pastors and friends, and it was   a time of prayerful synergy building. (View the program) NAD Ministerial gave away another ipad to the pastor drawn from the jar filled with pastors names who gave their "Best Idea For Ministry."

Adventist Ministries Convention

"Tools of the Master" was the theme of this convention in Innisbrook, Florida from January 15-18.  Beginning Sunday evening and each morning, Monday thru Wednesday, the worship service speakers presented real spiritual challenges to those in attendance. The Ministerial track had great presentations given by Susan Nienaber on church conflicy and Jesse Wilson on church growth.

Focus On Biblical Preaching

The Bradford-Cleveland-Brooks Leadership Center Presents the Third Annual Conference on the Art& Craft of Preaching February 26-29, 2012.  The Focus this year is "Preaching the Message of Daniel and Revelation  To register click here  http://www.bcblc.org

Division Wide Ministerial Convention slated for 2015

Last week at the NAD Ministries convention the NAD Ministerial Directors and Union presidents both recommended that the NAD hold a division wide Pastors' Convention in 2015. This will be the first division wide ministerial meeting ever sponsored by the NAD. Current conversation leans toward a Texas location around the last week of June. Details as far as the time and place will be announced in an upcoming edition of Best Practices. Pastors are urged to save the date for this premier event.

Women Clergy Conference

NAD Ministerial is sponsoring an Adventist Women April 23-26 at the Frontier Missions retreat Center in Berrien Springs Michigan.  "It is my hope and dream that 100% of Adventist women who are pastoring in Adventist Churches can attend this event.  There are currently 107 women serving as employed pastors in NAD congregations. Women clergy may register for this event at PlusLine. For more information about this event contact Esther Knott, Associate Director, NAD Ministerial.

Ministerial Policy Revisited

The NAD Working Policy for Pastors, L Section, is currently being revisited by NAD Ministerial with hopes of updating, clarification, and alignment with current practices in ministry. Study committee members are James Fox, Ernie Furness, Esther Knott, and Billy Leveille.  Pastors and Ministerial Directors are urged to give their input to the chairman Walton Williams, NAD Ministerial Associate & InMinistry Center Director.

Just Claim It / Ignition / Leadership Summit is coming soon!

From March 7-11 thousands of young, young adults, and youth ministry leaders will converge on Greensboro, North Carolina to be trained & inspired, to pray and to serve, to worship and praise.

If you are a youth leader, you are encouraged to bring your youth to this "Just Claim It" event where they can be inspired, learn how to pray in brand new ways, and most importantly learn ministry and service skills to make a difference in their community.  Further, you could challenge your local leadership to join us in a long-term discipleship initiative called "Choose 12"  in which we challenge every leader to mentor and sponsor 12 youth in spiritual and discipleship development -- including Just Claim It.

If you are a young adult, you are invited to come and join a vibrant community of other young adults who are interested in networking, sharing their vision for ministry and service, and who desire to claim their cities for Christ.

Also in this 3-in-1 event, lay youth leadership from around the division are coming to be trained in Pathfinder Ministry, Adventurer Leadership, Creative ministries, Mission Lifeguard reclamation ministry and so many more!

James Black, NAD Youth Department Director, says, "I invite you, and those you minister to, to register today."  Early-bird registration has been extended until February 10th 2012 to help facilitate YOUR group's ability to come.

Ministerial Quote

"Persevering prayer is not an option; it is a necessity if we are to be victorious over our adversary personally and corporately as a church.
